School Construction In Ghana.
From May 3 to 10, 2023, Foundation Chairman Christian Krämer and Managing Director Tilo Braune undertook a trip through Ghana, Benin and Ethiopia to meet potential partners for new school construction projects and to determine the actual need for new school buildings.
In Accra/Ghana, they first met the German ambassador Daniel Krull, who informed them about the political situation in the country and emphasized the urgent need for investment in the education sector. The next day, together with representatives of the Hamburg-based Block Foundation, they traveled into the interior of the country and visited the provincial town of Sunyani, where they met the local bishop of the Catholic diocese. There they were shown a suitable plot of land for the planned new school building, as well as an existing school that has been run successfully and ecumenically by the diocese for years.
In cooperation with the partners from the Block Foundation, they decided to build a new school in Sunyani.
UPDATE 1: The contract between the Peter Krämer Foundation and the Block Foundation was signed shortly before Christmas 2023.
Now the project can start! Now that the contract has been signed and the suggestions of the Sunyani diocese have been taken into account, nothing stands in the way of the school project starting construction in January 2024. Although there was a cost increase, the idea from Sunyani was attractive to us as there are already plans to build a crèche and a kindergarten once the school is completed. In the founder and managing director of the Madamfo Ghana e.V. association, Bettina Manu-Landgrafe, we have found a competent and experienced local partner who will implement the joint primary school construction project in a cost-efficient and quality-conscious manner.
