Christian KRÄMER OPENS SchOOl in Benin

The school in Gnandopka, located in the heart of Benin, was built by the Peter Krämer Foundation with the support of the Fly and Help Foundation and AIDA Cruises. On October 8, 2024, it was officially inaugurated by Christian Krämer during a traditional African ceremony featuring drumming, dancing, speeches, and local cuisine. The ceremony was also attended by Andreas Beckermann, Head of Cooperation at the German Embassy in Cotonou. Around 150 children now have the opportunity to attend school regularly in a permanent building. The project also includes a well, gender-segregated restrooms, and even a toilet for people with disabilities.

In their speeches, the prefect of the region, the head of the education authority, and the village mayor expressed their gratitude for the generous donation from Germany. The parents’ representative delivered an impressive speech, thanking the donors for providing a school that enables children to receive a solid education, paving the way for them to shape their own futures and broadening their career opportunities. This is how the future is built.

On the return journey to Cotonou, the German delegation visited a potential future project—a currently dilapidated school that is effectively unfit for use due to the risk of collapse. However, due to a lack of alternatives, it continues to serve as a “school.” The danger is imminent! We pledged to seek additional partners to support the reconstruction of this school
